Years ago I would just go out and buy what was the newest vid card. Once it got up to 128, then 256... I really started reading about benchmarks. For instance, When I saw the benchmarks between an ATI Radion 128mb vs the 256mb version, the difference was nominal, however there was a $30 price difference.
Recently (yesterday actually) I had a request for a card with at least 512mb. He wants to Play WOW and thats about it. Of course... he doesn't want to spend alot of money. PCIe I wouldn't even have looked into it, but He needs a PCI card, which are still pretty expensive for High Mb cards.... so I looked:
Turns out the benchmarks from the 256 to the 512mb are nominal....
