Thanks. I might be behind a bit though, I've learned more about the disease risks up there, and while I'm properly innoculated, due tho the concentration of it, I may opt to wait the few days until I can get ANOTHER set of booster shots. For some reason, I feel better with this "security blanket" beforehand ...
Also, I noticed something with my car I wanna fix first too. It's minor, however, nothing's minor if you're not near home, you know?
So, it's all coming along, and IS gonna happen; I'm just working on timeframes and safety. I'm not a help if I too become ANY form of casuality (disease, stranded, etc) ...
Anyway, let's just say that I had an interesting conversation with the guy at the CDC (Center For Disease Control), and although I knew all risk, I didn't know how bad it all was, how much contamination there was, and how little data they have still as they are STILL awaiting results of many tests. I'm a VERY healthy person, I'm not worried about most, however, I'm not gonna go into this without ALL preparation. I have the time to prepare, why not do it and do it right?
... besides, 9/11, I never had the CHANCE to prepare fully; I'm not making that mistake again!

I'm also drinking ASSLOADS of water every day, both purified and tap, so that I'm UBER-HYDRATED before I even go. I'm also eating rich foods to store extra carbs ... I feel a little of the extra on me, but it burns off FAST when you're doing this. These are ways to insure your health beforehand since you can't just "go to the cupboard" and get what you need when you need it.
Putting on an extra 3 lbs keeps you well with scarce food and water for up to 5 days, heat and activity pending ... If I get an extra day a pound I'll be happy.

Honestly, maybe you should let this one go Thrash. What they are doing now is forced evacuation, that could mean violence, plus the water is so toxic, 8 people have died from being exposed with open wounds and with 5 pumps working now, the water level is slowly falling, but the water's toxins will be more concentrated. I know you will go anyway, but can't you just hang out at the airport where they set up a make shift hospital and treat people that need help there? It's down to pulling out dead bodies and forcing people out who are too stupid to leave now, which you will still be saving their life, but they won't thank you for it, they'll fight you. Well, either way, you are a hero, good luck if you feel you still have to go, just be very careful, it's a very brave thing you are doing.

I certainly can reckon with your need to do this man, the training and preparedness are not just that, they are also a precursor in one's mind to ACTION at some point.

I think its looking alot like "the stand" .....all the people that got diseased or plague from the rancid water are being dispersed into the whole USA. ....I'm waiting to get a "tip crawling with death" from a person who survived katrina, to pass to everyone I wait on, then they give it to the world.....that's how the book read. ...scary huh? .....the water they are pumping out is going into the gulf of mexico, there goes our sea life. It's gonna get fucking BAD before it's over and we are ALL subject to it. ....kids from new orleans are pouring in to the schools here and everywhere. I'm not saying these people are not welcome or worthy, they are. I mean the potential health hazzards, since the shelters are already breaking out with disentary. It's the end of the world as we know it...

I cannot think of that; there's a lot more I have to do. I cannot think of "myself" ... I have a job to perform.
(I'm just going to prep myself before I go, I made it a "condition" before they use my expertise...) They are complying, it's just a slower process than I planned. (They only have a FEW people that are trained in this shit, and on this scale)
Either way, it's MY JOB/DUTY to do this ....

I don't think you are crazy Dave, If I had the GUTS to do it I would. . You're strong and I wish you the best of luck. If we didnt have people like you on this earth then it would be alot worse then this and no one would help or try to get things back to normal. So I for one will thank you for being so brave..
One thing I have learnt over the years Dave, is that you have to take care of yourself and do things for yourself. We are all on this earth for one reason and that reason will be unknown until we die. (Like the time I saved this old mans life at the bus stop when I was 15, I believe I was there and missed the bus before that one for a reason and that was the reason.) Maybe this is one of YOUR reasons of being on this earth, to help people who need it, to save lives eitherway you have done in the past and are still doing an amazing thing.. Another thing I have to say is that Someone in your job is so very brave, Some of the things you must see and still it doesn't get to you. James uncle was in the police and he got fucked up by some of the stuff he saw on a muder case. He went so crazy...it was scary.

As for Brooke, I can understand her anger or hate about you going there, I know that If james had to go and do something like that (if he wanted to or not) would kill me with worry. I've heard of the stories of police commiting suicide because of the things they have seen. It must be heart breaking for Brooke to see you put your life in danger for others. In her heart she knows you are doing a great thing Dave. Take care of each other.
There is alot of disease there Dave and people willing to shoot anyone for there houses and looting (I'm sure you already know that ) so .. be careful, take care and me and James will be both think of you and Brooke until we know you are ok. *Hugs you*
