I just realized today that I suffer from fear of using the telephone. There are only about ten people I'm comfortable with on the phone. That includes family.

it wasn't for me as well, and I hate to chit chat too...well, on the phone anyway.....hmm, in person too come to think of it, unless I know someone really well.....and we're drunk
I hate talking on the phone as well. I don't like not being able to see a person's facial expression when I talk with them. I try to keep phone convos with everyone, as short as possible. I especially hate "chatting" on cell phones.

I'm sure we could talk up a storm.
Though, CelApok makes a fine point... phone talk would be odd to some extent, unless we/she/it/they met in person first. I've had phone conversations with about 10-12 people I've met on the net, and they seem to go fine though. My nervous energy usually translates into dumb jokes, which break ice and can dispel awkard crap.
