Yeah that humongous one in Odenton is a joke. Used to be a light there, now 175 backs up a block trying to get to the on-ramp to 32. Little one horse town with a gas station and a Dairy Queen and they need a huge rotary???
Big round raised pavement in the centre of the intersection stops turning traffic cutting through the intersction. Give way to the right (here & UK, I guess give way to the left in the US), but theres no need to stop if you have right of way, sail right through.
At least that's how I approach roundabouts. We dont use 4 way stops here, at a crossroad, one road will have right of way always, intersecting road will have stop or yield signs. Most of those have been replaced by roundabouts though.
We have right turns from the left side of the road here too in some circumstances, mostly because we have trams running down the middle of the road in a lot of places. That really fucks with some people's minds, but it's really simple and works well. This is how it works (click on the image): [Click, Dick]

Oh how wicked is that? ..and you have to be in the left to turn right because of the tram. I see. It makes sence because the tram is there. How intresting!
