I have friends from Canada that swear that Redneck isn't just a southern thing. They claim to have them there too. (I never saw one though, so it's dubious)
They confuse "redneck" with Red Green. Being from the country, driving a rusted out Dodge Reliant, and living on moonpies and cheap beer doesn't make one a redneck.
A friend of a friend owns a leather shop in Emmitsburg. They contract leatherwork, wallets, vests, a lot of stuff from the Harley Store in York, PA. He was telling me how the Klan is really big up there in Carroll County, MD and SoPA. So he's sitting in a bar one night and the head of the local Klan comes over and start trying to recruit him. He turns to the guy and says, "I live in a doublewide, I own more guns than anyone in town, I drive a rusted out RamCharger, I fly a Confederate Battle Ensign in front of my house EVERY day of the year and you think I need to join a club to hate niggers? Get the fuck outta here..."
