My ghetto origins
I had a pretty hard childhood living in Houston. My mom and I lived in so many different places I can't even remember them all. We moved monthly. Some places had rats, some had ceilings that caved in, one had a dude that beat the shit out of me. I remember a stint where we didn't have electricity for a month (couldn't afford the bill) and we had candles around the house for light. I ran past one and my hair caught on fire haha. Blah blah blah, this post really isn't about that (just background info)...
it's about pure unadulterated rap. In 1990, at 9 years old I was introduced to rap by a friend and fell in love. In 1991, I was listening to 97.9 The Box exclusively and used to pretend to be a radio dj. I still have a couple of tapes from back then, and today I went by Goodwill and bought a tape player so I could digitize these recordings.
And now for your listening pleasure, here's me in 1991 as a creative 10-year old listening/ to classics such as Mr. Scarface is Back (Scarface), Pop that Coochie (2 Live Crew), M.C. Lucious (Boom I got your Boyfriend), and Ice Cube (Jackin' for Beats). I used to pretend to be a radio dj all the time and I kind of just cut a bunch of various songs from the tape and mashed them together. Some of my commentary and 10-year old antics were pretty funny!

This is pretty hilarious. Bagman as a 10 year old. Now you see why I'm super stoked about seeing Ice Cube, and why I was ecstatic after seeing Snoop Dogg, Kool Keith, Method Man and Red Man this year.
<----Proud of his whiteboy roots. Born and raised in Waterville, Maine. Grew up on classical, consumed heavy amounts of punk and hardcore as a young man, been preaching the gospel of metal since age 18.

Meth and Red were dope as hell. I don't partake in any drugs any more (since '01 baby), but I was some kinda high from contact high. The cloud was unbelievable. The sizes of some of the blunts were unbelievable too. Method/Red were grabbing blunts from people in the crowd and toking on stage. Hah at one point Red stood on the crowd and walked around while people were holding his feet up. He fucking rapped while standing on people's hands!
Damn, KRS cancelled his show here in Austin this weekend! Emp, you're lucky.
I'm white as hell, but I embrace the hip-hop culture. I still like punk rock and some phat fucking electronic beats too. But I was basically brought up with hip-hop.
For your enjoyment, here's a little Kyle Freestyle.
When I'm bored, I often find myself making up quick little lyrics. Maybe one day I'll put together a full song. With my own beats made with my Kaossilator too.

I would say that KRS-One was one of the top 10 shows I've ever seen. Even if you have to go out of your way to see him sometime, it would be worth it.

Unfortunately I don't. Since I work at a law firm, and use a Blackberry paid for by them, I have no camera. Attorneys are not allowed to bring camera's into the court rooms so we have to order ALL our devices SANS cameras, even for staff.

Emp - KRS-One is throwing down tomorrow night and I'm going this time. He better live up man. De La Soul is playing at the Austin Music Hall tomorrow night. I love having choices. Austin is IT!
