I know it's been out a while, but I get very few movie nights.
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events ...
Had such high hopes because the promos reminded me of City of Lost Children, world of shadow and nightmares wrapped in the guise of a child's perspective. The imagery was Edward Gorey awesome, but the story was such a let down. *sigh* The mystery should have been much deeper, unsolvable, the whole thing was as deep as a puddle in the end. But A+ on the paper cut art and puppetry, worth a look for the artist's vision alone. I find it hard to believe that painstaking imaginative, handcrafted art came from the story instead of vice versa. It was sort of like Gorey's The Dwindling Party pop-up book as a movie.
