Sounds like the time I saw Requiem for a Dream. I had heard it hyped as the best stoner film ever. All about drugs and extremely good. I made plans to see it with two of my biggest smoking chums and one of their girlfriends, but I had to work beforehand. I ran back to the apartment to change into normal clothes and partake in a bit of the mood enhancer I could smell thickly, but apparently the fuckers had started without me and all that was left were two roaches one fresh, one from a few nights earlier. I was a little bummed that I was still essentially sober, but man was I glad when the film started to turn into the WORST allegedly "stoner film" I've ever seen. The girlfriend left in tears, and I think us guys were all holding them back.
Requiem was the lamest 102 minutes I've ever had the misfoutune of wasting my time on. It wasnt' depressing or sad, it was boring uninteresting, and yawn inducing.
I never even heard of The Bucket List until this thread. I guess this is why:

Requiem for a Dream always sounded depressing so I never bothered. And I actually picked up The Bucket List on bootleg just cuz I like both Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, but that same day my boss' daughter, a really good friend of mine and my sister's best friend (almost a sister to us, really) fuckin' OD'd. I haven't felt much like watching it since then.

Requiem for a Dream was an odd refernce but I actually also have conflicting views of that film. It was a great movie, but in an extremely disturbing way. My lust for Jennifer Connelly aside, the fact that she sold herself for dope.. aaaarrrggg...
Actually I think a better reference is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, also marketed as a comedy, but I found it to be one of the most depressing films I have ever seen.
And as for critics and refernces - I trust no one's opinion but my own. Hell My favorite Movie is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Agreed. But I liked Bucket List. Only because I'm closer to having one than all of you...
Happening not the the worst - although a wee bit disapointing.
You Don't know my soon to be ex-wife Zoomie... The only reason she would hit me with the but of a rifle is because she doesn't have any shells left... and trust me - I made my my list just in case

I liked the bucket list. I thought it was one of those movies that made you laugh, cry and get all pissed off in one film. I wouldn't call it a comedy, but I wouldn't call it a drama or a tragedy either.
