WILMINGTON, N.C. - Traffic was backed up and police were called to control the crowd after a Wilmington gas station accidentally set the pump price at 35 cents a gallon. ADVERTISEMENT
The Wilmington Star-News reported Friday that hundreds of drivers flooded a BP station for the cheap gas after the price dropped around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Station employee Shane Weller said the price for premium gasoline was supposed to be $3.35 a gallon. He complained that customers paid the cheaper price all day without saying a word.
It was all the extra traffic that led station employees to the mistake around 6 p.m. They found it after calling their district manager, looking for permission to changing the price as a way of stemming the flow of customers.
I recently paid $3.75 for low grade regular. No need to wonder why I made three trips around town today on my MB. And the thing that pisses me off to no end is every time I try to drive with a little economy in mind I'm nearly ran off the road by people in giant SUV's and pickups driving like bats out of fucking hell.
I mean I have done my share of hot rodding around but some people seem to be so aggravated by the price of gas they are doing their damdest to burn it up as fast as possible.
Or maybe that's just the new way of showing you have money to burn and are willing to prove it.
I spend roughly $180.00 per week on gas for my work truck. I'm shopping for a used Subaru right now. At thispoint, and with our economy failing, fuck comfort. I need 30+ mpg...
I get just under 30 mpg, these days. also, i don't use that much electricity @ home either. in fact, my carbon footprint comes mostly from flying places.
I'm in the process of buying one of these: Thats a Ford Mondeo XR5 Turbo. Mine'll be in dark blue. It'll be a hell of a lot more fuel efficient than my Holden Berlina, which uses 12 litres per 100 kilometres (dunno what that is in MPG).
Joy, the GTO (Holden Monaro) was made in Adelaide by semi evolved South Australians. I'd avoid it. If the G8 was built in Victoria rather than South Australia, I'd recommend that. But I cant.
