Your thoughts on Education jobs in NZ, AU, Japan? Any links for me to look at? TIbor, can I talk to your mom?
The economy is so terrible here, and teaching jobs (especially music, ESPECIALLY STRINGS) are paying next to shit . I've been looking for jobs since November and 100+ resumes later I have nothing. I think it's time for a big move.

Ian - "Vacancies for orchestral and administration positions are generally advertised in the Age or the Australian and will appear on the MSO website."
Can you keep an eye out in that Newspaper, or whatever it is?
Is there ANY CHANCE you know what listing this orchestra is? IE: Is it an A list orchestra? A list orchestras include The Philadelphia Orchestra, London Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic...
Or is it a B or C List? Im asking because I'm preparing a 5 year plan to gain a B list orchestra job, but right now I've got to drill repitore like crazy
From what I understand, the MSO is Australia's premier orchestra, so I'm guessing its A list. If it isnt A list, it's probably very high B list.
The Age is Melbourne's broadsheet [Click, Dick] The Australian is a Murdoch braodsheet paper, but it's continental, like USA Today but much less tabloid.
I could actually see you living here, in a inner suburb like Fitzroy or Richmond. Kinda like living in South Philly.
Barring that, I guess the Universities (Melbourne, Deakin, Monash, Swinburne, Australian Catholic Uni, RMIT, La Trobe, Victoria Uni) here or the big private high schools (Scotch College, Methodist Ladies College, Caufield Grammar [incidentally the school Nick Cave attended], Xavier College) are likely to offer decent music teaching jobs. Failing that, there's plenty of other work going, in all fields.

Our fields are dustbowls at the minute, so I dunno if theres much working to be done there...
The big miners are always looking for engineers though... might suit you, coz their mines are usually hundreds if not thousands of miles from civilisation.
There are shortages in NZ I know... my Mum and Sister teach music and they have no problems getting hired. Especially of you can hack on the Piano. Anyway flick me your CV and I'll ask Mum how she would go about things
America to Australia is a somewhat difficult legal migration. You will have to prove your worth to the Aussie gov't. They didn't want me on their skilled labor visa program. Apparently the country is already overrun with furniture makers. Already having a job or a sponsor (Mosh) will help. Perhaps orchestra or teaching work is a more desirable category, too.
