and im getting brave and got the incline at 10 on the treadmill. i guess that is 10%, right? i got it to 12 one day. i cant go faster than 3.1 MPH with that high an incline. im not 22 anymore :/
been doing mad crunches too.
anybody tried making lasagne with 100% whole grain wheat lasagne noodles? i wonder if this would suck?
i love ricotta cheese and if any of you have eaten middle eastern/med. food perhaps youve tried those pastries that are like baklava on the outside, but way softer, with ricotta in the middle? Dad's from yemen and his friends bring around all sorts fo weird food, some great, some nasty as hell. depends where theyre from, he knows pakistinians, palestinians, and indians
I would think that whole grain wheat lasagne could be great, but probably ideally ought to be a fairly veggie-ful one, as opposed to the traditional meat'n'tomatoes type.
Actually, you can make a really interesting and tasty "lasagne" by using slices of courgette (zucchini) instead of pasta for the layers.
Or very thin slices of eggplant. I actually had an vegetarian lasagna once that was noodleless and it had thin slices of eggplant for the "noodle" and it was really good and cheesy. (not vegan, just vegetarian)
I've made that with thinly sliced zucchini, eggplant and yellow squash, lowfat small curd cottage cheese and skim mozzarelle. Mmmm think I'll make it this week.
Also for good vegetable protein and high fiber, try Dhal made with red lentils. There are several great versions of it at vegweb. I'll post my version in Hell's Kitchen.
Trust me, I'm an old school lasagna eater too. It's not the same if it isn't full of cheese and meat and noodles. But the eggplant one wasn't bad. it was good and it was a different spin on it. Nothing I'd make every day, but it's nice to pull it out when my vegetarian friends come over.
