Nothing More

A warm summer day,
A distant shore,
A peaceful love,
And nothing more.

They sat in the sand,
Her hand entwined with His,
This is all She remembers,
And only this.

He confessed His love to Her,
She just couldnt reply,
He remembered Her sitting,
As She gazed at the sky.

She hid the pain with a simple smile,
As a tear fell to the ground,
She tried to speak,
Yet produced no sound.

She stood to her feet,
And walked away fast,
That smile He saw,
Became His last.

She remembers Him still,
Whenever She cries,
He'll never come back
No matter how much She tries.

He left her alone,
And went off to war,
It was for the best,
Though it left Her sore.

She missed His sweet smile,
She longed for His soft touch,
She wanted to say She Loved him,
And exactly how much.

But its too late now,
He died over seas,
Her tears fall down,
In the gentle breeze.

His service is over,
She slowly walks away,
All She can think about,
Is that wonderful day.
