First url A FORMER bank manager who embezzled almost $650,000 in a bid to save her marriage was exposed by her husband. Sentance - 7 years, non-parole 28 months.
Sceond url A MAN was thrown off a balcony and nearly killed as a group sex romp turned sour when the woman at the centre of attention said she'd had enough. Sentance - 2 years, suspended after 6 months.
I've always been a little bothered that attempted murder was any less a charge than murder... It seems like rewarding incompetence. Really though it's a little more complicated.
The thing is.. people get charged with attempted murder all the time when they really probably weren't trying to kill the person. Lots of fights end people up with attempted murder charges if one of the people fighting is hurt bad enough.
And of course... judges make the judgment on how circumstances came into play... specifically a guy throwing someone out of his house who was refusing to leave without fucking his wife (haha, really..).
I dunno... my experience is all from the US legal system though so it may be a lot different. I do hate white collar criminals though. Too often they get BS sentences.
Property crime is always high on the punishment list. People love therir property more than other people. And since you cant legally trade people, its hard to put a value on a person. But you can easily put a value of defrauded property.
