So it's pushin midnight, and I need to haul my big ass garbage thing on wheels up my 1/4 mile driveway which looks like a scene out of Jurassic Park (I live in NE FL). I Am holding a small flashlight in my mouth to see while pulling when I hit a spider web. Nothing unusual usually, but this one actually makes my right arm stick to my other arm while trying to get untangled...
I get myself free and the very same driveway I just drove down 3 hours earlier has an INSANELY complex web of which I just fucked up by walking through it, and in the middle... a very large, very upset, and vary unfamiliar type of Spider.
I am used the the uber huge Banana spiders, and the tarantula lookin Wolf spiders around here, but this one scared the liveing shit out of me... not HUGE but big none the less, long thick white hair, for lack of a better term, and eye stalkes like a crab. It wasn't a 'crab spider', I have seen those.. this perplexed me, and the HUGENESS of the web and crazy stickyness of it concerned me more.
I quickly ran in and got my wife to make sure I wasn't having some sort of flashback from something I did 20 years ago, and sure enough, Being a Georgia Girl, she taunts the beast, which rears up and shows some fangs. We leave it alone and I come in to look it it up online. No avail. 3 hours later, I go out with my Digi to document it... and It, AND the HUGE intriguing web, gone. I did get a good shot of an seven banded armadillo eating a mushroom, and a short video of one of my Great Danes taking the biggest dump you have ever seen, but no crazy white haired spider.
I have a witness at least - I am gonna look again tomorrow.
