So I went to Hong Kong a few weeks ago, and the place is incredible. First think I noticed was just how vertical the place is:
It was damn hot, but that didnt stop me looking for stars... I found Bruce Lee: Jackie Chan: Chow Yun Fat Jet Li
They kicked my arse... I finally got to my hotel, which I found was undergoing some renovations... yup, the scffolding is bamboo, its light, strong, cheap and flexible in typhoons.
So I get settled in, and check out my surroundings... Nathan Road is the place for foreign devils like myself, its flat out, and every 10 meters theres Indians trying to get you to buy suits from them... The best way to deal with the Indians is wear some headphones and ignore them.
So I went on a bus tour of the island and we went to Repulse Bay: Theres a hidden garden there: If you walk over the bridge in that last pic, you get a long life... I walked over it
Next I went to Aberdeen, and took a Sampan ride through the fishing boats the original Honk Kong people lived on... Whole families live on these boats 24x7x365... no rest for the fishermen. The worlds biggest floating restraunt is here: but I didnt eat there...
The next day I took another tour of Hong Kong Island with my workmate William and his nephew Kenneth. William is Chinese but lives in Australia now, and was holidaying in Hong Kong at the time. William and Kenneth took me shopping for a new shirt for Kenneth because he spilled drink down his old shirt. I bought some CAT canvas shoes and a big bottle of water, coz it was hot and humid. First we went to Stanley which has an awesome market (I bought some Levis and a cool tshirt), but we had a look around too: Yeah yeah, dressed for the heat and humidity... I planned it well hahaha... So after having lunch there, we headed back to Hong Kong to go up to the Peak using the Peak Tram (it climbs 350 meters at 60degree angle in about 5 minutes): It was much cooler up the top, so we went for a walk around the peak, very jungle like and nice. After sunset I watched the awesome lightshow the office buildings put on, and we came back down the mountain and had dinner. A good day was had. The next 2 days were filled with drinking with my new German friends Raoul & Bianca, shopping, and chilling out mostly.
