im not sure how many people know this outside alaska, but there is a dividend that residents can sign up for. its a lump of money the oil field invested in the stock market, and people that sign up for it get a dividend each year. it is the average of the last several years of economic blah blah stocks blah blah blah...if you give a fuck in how the money is made, then google it.
basically, we get a check. it usually averages around $1400, though it's been known to reach $1900 once and has dipped as low as $400.
this year's dividend is $1100, after taxes. that's a lot of free money and it's a pretty big increase over last year's $900. it's looking to get bigger for the next few years, so who knows how high it will get this time?
since i signed up online for direct deposit, i get my dividend on the fourth. that's technically today
