O.J. Simpson's bail revoked

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- A judge in Nevada revoked O.J. Simpson's bail Friday, pending a hearing next week.

District Attorney David Roger requested the revocation, telling a judge that Simpson violated one of his bail conditions by getting in touch with a co-defendant, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. In his motion, Roger quoted a profanity-laced message Simpson allegedly asked his bail bondsman to pass on to Clarence Stewart in an apparent effort to influence Stewart's testimony.

Simpson was arrested in September on charges that he robbed two sports memorabilia dealers at the Palace Station Hotel Casino. He was released on $125,000 bail on condition that he stay away from his co-defendants and other parties to the case, surrender his passport and remain in the country.

The former football star was taken into custody Friday in Florida, where he lives, KLAS-TV in Las Vegas reported.

Simpson was acquitted of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. They were stabbed outside her home in Los Angeles in 1994.

When he was arrested on the robbery charge, Simpson said he was trying to retrieve property that had been stolen from him.
