Lucas actually suggested this when we were talking recently.

If people downloaded Skype [Click, Dick] and installed it, we could have a mass conference call.

I'd be curious to see what a bunch of ranting board users would sound like, and those who havent experienced my funny accent and slang (Mello's reaction to my slang reference for sunglasses was cool

) could have the opportunity to take the piss.

I'm happy to travel back in time to fit in with you Northern Hemisphere types... and if we actually tried it and it went bad, Lucas is to blame

Vent is like one huge conference call and it doesn't require "calling" anyone. You just log on. If someone else is on there, you talk to one another. You can dedicate "channels" with passwords that restricts certain peoples out. MMORPG has made them very popular.

A ventrilo channel is an interesting idea. However, since it's kind of like Voice IRC, I'm not sure how well it would succeed (given the success of the IRC channel in general).

However, it'd be a nice thing for Dave to do, if he wanted to set up the vent server for us.

I still totally prefer Skype, but vent is just another tool in the geek communications arsenal.

what I like so much about the vent is you don't have to "dial" anyone. You just log on, and if people are in it, then you can join in as well.
